Hello,

I am a biotechnology student and am conducting research for a class on the community of biotech. I work in a research lab at a university but was hoping to get some feedback from sources outside on writing and the importance it plays in the science world.  I have some questions that I hope some might take the time to answer. My questions are:

-How important is writing in the field of biotechnology?
-Do you have to write daily? If not, how often?
-Are proper grammar and spelling crucial in your writing?
-How does your writing affect the way your coworkers, superiors and peers view you?
-Which is more important: verbal or written communication skills?
-Do you notice when coworkers misspell words or use incorrect grammar?
-Do you think there is a tendency for people in science to be less concerned with spelling, grammar, and writing in general?

Please feel free to comment on any of these that you want. I am just exploring how important writing is in the science world. Any input is greatly appreciated. Thanks so much for your time everyone.
