what kind of basic computer knowledge is essential for a bsc biotech graduate? Since it forms an important part of biotechnology and also for msc bioinformatics in some colleges they expect that you know it.

For MSc in bioinformatics database knowledge like Data mining, SQL writing is very important. Plus a basic programming, script writing and data manipulation is usually sufficient.

It depends on syllabus of university you are graduating from.
