My question is...Are we able to detect the very first base from the 5' end of the DNA fragment to be sequenced by MAXAM-GILBERT sequencing method??

Given the fact that one goes for end tagging of the fragments in Maxam Gilbert sequencing, it should be possible to detect the terminal bases...I will still ask for a second opinion from my colleagues tomorrow..
