Hi Lakshmi,

Before I shed any advice, it would be great if you could share details about you BSc and or projects you have done till date.

I always suggest people to go for a specialization rather than a generalized field. On those grounds, Agricultural Biotech would be my suggestion.

Your focus of PhD after agricultural Biotech could be Plant Biotechnology (Tissue culture/gene modifications/hybrid development/GM Crops etc).

or a safer route for keeping your prospects wider, would be to go for MSc in Biotechnology but ensuring that you pursue an internship/project in a Plant biotech (if that's your area of interest).

There are ample opportunities for agricultural biotechnologists in PAU, IARI like institutes.

Hope it helps

Best wishes

It is wise to go for a specialization at the PG level. The agriculture industry plays a major role in the Indian economy by contributing approximately 15-20% of the GDP. So, M.Sc. in Agricultural Biotechnology is an excellent choice.

Few of the popular domains after M.Sc. in Agricultural Biotechnology are
Plant Biology (Plant Genetics & Plant Biochemistry)
Food Science & Technology
Veterinary Science
Dairy Science, Technology & Management
Journalism & Communication
Education & Social Services
Academic Research & Teaching
Agricultural Sales, Marketing & Merchandising

Good Luck!
