I just got back from a nine-day biotech camp. To be clear, I signed up cause I was bored; I didn't actually think I would find it interesting. Well, I did. I had the time of my life over the past nine days, but now that they're over, I feel lost. I want to learn more, but I don't know where to start. I've been trying to read articles, journals, and whatnot on the topic, but every other word is some crazy science-y word that I've never seen before. On top of this, I'm planning to apply to volunteer at NIH (cause they have a program for high school students) and I don't wanna show up like "PCR stands for polymerase chain reaction, please accept me."

Does anyone have any tips for this desperate teen?

Anything helps. Thanks!

Hey Guys,

Just wanted to share a cool resource for you all.
Biotech is both a high-growth and high-risk industry. In this field, success strongly relies on the science behind every concept that a company strives to make a reality. One of the main challenges in biotech is that the outcome of any long-term R&D project heavily depends on time-sensitive experiments that can sometimes cost a little fortune each.

Both public and private funding is usually limited, at least in comparison with the extremely high costs associated with R&D.
We have published a white paper on how to effectively manage the costs in your lab - “The Essential Guide to Managing Biotech Labs”. Download it for free here: http://ow.ly/fnQE30fFNfZ

Hello to all of the biotech professionals and enthusiasts.

Background:

I am an intern currently doing market research for a startup company that has produced a new portable culture incubator. Knowing that it would have strong ties to health, biotech, and pharmaceuticals, I joined this forum to ask any proffesionals about how their experiences with similar products or how to get started researching the market. For what I know, the market is small enough that it difficult to find inexpensive online secondary information.

Product:

The developing product is a more compact portable culture incubator that claims two unique innovations. The first is that it has a self monitoring and self-regulating CO2 system to keep the culture conditions at the optimal concentration. The second is that it is one of the, if not the only, first portable incubators with approval for both frieght and flight transportation with an optional built in battery to support the journey.

Questions:
Any general advice would be appreciated, however I do have a few questions to help me with my research.
1) When is it most necesarry for live cell transportation?
2) In your opinion, what would be the hypothetical significance of this product?
3) Are there any references to view the market for products, or similar products such as these. If not directly, then are there intersections or indicators?
4) Any companies worth reviewing?

Thank you for your support.

Hi, everyone!
A new guy here.

Do you know Knockdown?

As far as I know RNA interference has become a widely used approach to perform gene knockdown experiments in cell cultures and more recently transgenic animals. It has developed into a routine method to assess gene function in a fast and easy manner. These RNAi models allow researchers to induce and reverse gene knockdown in transgenic mice at selected time points in vivo.

Here proprietary RNAi technology is extremely vital to our research and experiment.

If you are interested in this topic and you know something about it, please share with us!
If U have any questions about it or have any trouble with your experiment, you can also ask!
I and my Creative Animodel colleagues are glad to help you!

Hope to discuss with you soon!

Best regards,
