Modifying Insect, where to begin? - apex128 - 05-24-2021

Hello,

I want to learn how to genetically modify an insect so that it may only produce sterile offspring. How would I do this? Is this possible to do at home without a lab?

Thanks

Hi Apex,

I would recommend you reading about the Sterile Insect Technique that is used to control insects.

They used the sterile insect to eradicate screw-worms from an island in 1954 close to Venezuela

Once you know how to technique is used you can find more referenced to how the insects are made so they are sterile

There's a great wikipedia article that tells about the technique and also gives references to how it was done.
