Hello,

If a good paying corporate Job in India is your top priority then I would suggest you to pursue a course other than Biotechnology.

If you have good interest in Biotechnology and have inclination towards doing research, then you can get good jobs in Biotechnology in India after your M.Tech only. By good job I mean a package of above Rs 25000/- per month.

Unless you pursue B.Tech from a top notch/recognized/government college, the chances of getting a good job after B.Tech in Biotech are very limited. You can fetch a good job after B.Tech only if you keep your academic performance very good.

Good Job sectors in Biotechnology in India are:
Food Biotechnology
Bioprocess/Biochemical Engineering
Bioinformatics
Biomedical Engineering
Agricultural Biotechnology

Hope it helps

Best wishes

Sunil

If you are really interested in Biotech, then you will definitely have a bright career (whether you stay in India or abroad). Most people opt for Biotech out of circumstances rather than choice. That's where the trouble starts.

For going abroad there are two ways:

1. Easy one: Pay the money for your fees and accommodation, and get a seat in a good university abroad. For this you need to be a rich one!

2. Ideal one: Work smart (working hard is not sufficient), to clear GATE/GRE and get a scholarship based admission abroad for a Masters course/PhD course. Job prospects in abroad/India after that would be plenty.

Even if you stay in India and keep your academics and co-curriculars above par, your career will be bright.

I'll be there to advice whenever needed.

All the best!

Sunil

Any subject or situation that motivates you a lot? By situation I mean development of some new technology, introduction to some new technique or some scientific news?

Irrespective of the above answers, following are job-safe careers:

a) Food processing/ Food Biotech
b) Bioinformatics
c) Diagnostic Sciences
d) MBA in Health Management

For a structured approach, you should first focus on JAM and JNU CEEB to secure admission in a good college.
