Hello, i want to know about Nanotechnology, is it good to go for m.tech in Nanotechnology after b.tech in biotech ?
i mean how much the field related to bio? what is the future prospects? like research works?

Hello Bharat,
Nanotechnology in itself is a very broad field. As long as you grab an opportunity to pursue a "NanoBiotech" related project during your Masters (like nanomedicine/drug delivery, study of nanoparticles in bacteria etc), pursuing M.Tech in Nanotech will keep you in line with a stable career.
But my experience says that mostly Nanotechnology deals with Nanomaterials and nanobots; and it's application in variety of fields (structural materials/electricity/oil pipelines/computer chips/cosmetics (somewhat related to biotech)/catalyst/packaging and so on..). Unless you are very sure about which project you will get in the target institute and whether you'll be able to excel well in the field related to that project in Nanotechnology, donot go for Masters in this field so vast.
You may find my suggestion confusing, because on the one hand I'm dubbing this field as "Vast" while on the other hand I'm asking you to be cautious of it. But the focal point here is: "If you will pursue a degree/project related to your core field; it will end up boosting your background. If you will pursue a degree/project unrelated to your core field, you will have to push "really hard" to convince the industry in trying you out despite your major part of academic life being spent in some unrelated field.
In short:
1) Ensure that while pursuing the Masters in Nanotechnology, your project should be related to biotechnology in some way.
2) Find out Nanobiotechnology course in some institute
3) You may pursue masters in Biotechnology with core thrust in "Nanotech" related project (offered in plenty in IITK, IITM, IITB, IITD).
4) Industrial jobs aren't huge in this field, but research it's one of the "most famous and favorite" topics of research in india and abroad.
5) You will easily land up in a PhD after masters in this field.

Hi Bharat,
Prof. RP Singh, Dr. Naveen Kumar Navani and Dr. P Gopinath, are associated with the Center of Nanotechnology of IIT Roorkee. They are actually the faculty of Department of Biotechnology. Pursuing your major project under one of these professors will keep you in line with Biotech. And, as mentioned in the syllabus, there is scope of studying Nanobiotechnology in the program, so I'm sure you will find appropriate exposure to Nanobiotech in this program.
Very importantly, make sure that the program electives you choose should incline you towards Nano-biotech.
Keep an eye on Khorana program as well (I'm not sure if your degree in Nanotech will keep you eligible for applying in Khorana program or not).
