ya, me too considered it as precipitated protein (free protein ) and choose option C

Yes, the word 'free protien' created a lot of confussion. And can anyone frame the explation for this question

This question is simple. Free protein means that are not precipitated. Here you will use the concept of "Salting In" and "salting out". Refers any down stream processing book.

Also, I haven't attempted the cytokinesis question, and should not say anything regarding that. But, probably, colchicine acts by inhibiting spindle fibre formation is specifically mitotic inhibitor and cytokinesis occurs thereafter, so it might not be accepted. So, its better to look a bit deeper into that.

Its an additional chromatid and not a chromosome(single centromere), so if we go chromosome number, all answers are right.
Only after early anaphase, there are 92 chromosomes(4n) till cytokinesis).

Hello i am a new member to this group. i want to know that if someone challenges the question, will other students also get the marks even if they dont challenge it?
(03-05-2017, 01:40 AM)masthanbasha Wrote: yes Rahul u can and the debasmita explanation was also correct

Actually the problem is that colchicine along with other options in question, Vinbalstine, nocodazole are all inhibitors of microtubule formation which inhibits mitosis, thus all three are mitotic inhibitors reported in Gerald karp book and other sources. Cytochalasin D in small concentrations inhibits the formation of actin filaments which directly inhibits the cytokinesis.

I have only a couple of research papers which have reported cytokinesis inhibition with colchicine, that might not be enough to support our challenge. Still I will give a try.

Yes, all the students will benefit if challenge is sucessful, as the answer key correction will be applicable to all the students.

1. Pedigree (question-45)  (Possible Ans : "X- linked recessive inheritance or Y linked" and "Y-linked only") (Can give upto 2.66 marks)
2. Zero order rate kinetics (question- 49) (Possible Ans : "100" and "10000") (Can give upto 2 marks)
3. Cytokinesis inhibitor (question -18)  (Possible Ans : "Cytochalasin D" and "Colchicine" ) (Can give upto 1.33 marks)

These 3 questions have possibility of giving a student 6 marks which can be really crucial.

Each of the 2 answers in the above question is proving to be right, thus all the students who have answered any of the 2 possible answers in the above questions should be given the benefit of dou.

What is views from all of you guys, should we challenge all the 3 questions ?
friends when will be the final key released and for 18 question what is the answer make a quick reply any one challenge the question no 18
