Coaching classes are never needed if you plan your preparation well. Coaching classes do nothing but add a routine to your life which is very easy to implement with some dedication.

GATE BT is not completely Maths oriented, you can skip on things which you are not comfortable with (focus on Matrices, Probability and Statistics).

Thoroughly study as many previous year papers as u can.

Please read other tips regarding GATE BT on this forum (search the forum) or at BiotechStudents.com

That's not true at all! IITs are the ideal examples of how education should be imparted. Everything is taught really very nicely and there is nothing out of the box to be studied. Biochemistry is same, Immunology is same, Microbiology is same...subjects never change, it's the approach to study them which changes. And it changes for good in IITs. Anyone who has a habit of taking things for granted and bunking the classes etc, can definitely not cope up with the IITian atmosphere (or any college for that matter). And, it's not just the studies, the co-curricular atmosphere in IITs is just amazing. In short, you are wrongly advised.

Hope it helps

I have done my internship from biotech park Lucknow. Its better to send request to IIT's and other institutes doing research but your statement of purpose should be strong enough. There are many private companies that will give you good quality training but you have to pay high amount.

Completely agree! A good mail and cover letter / s.o.p is very important! Hope you have gone through the following?:

In rare case, if you don't find any internship opportunity, then don't waste your time and rather start doing a project in your own college. Talk to a professor of your college and let him know that you wish to do a project in 2-3 months of vacations. As a matter of fact, college projects are often taken seriously as there is little scope of wasting time, and can easily be defended by saying that you wished to work on a particular topic of research and hence decided to do it in your own college. But don't take it as a way out..try your best to find an internship (exposure is always an added advantage), and if you end up doing a project in your own college, "Do it Seriously".
