Hi Deepak,

Can you provide info about your 2nd and 3rd year internship/training profile? I mean which institute did you get it from and what was the domain?

This will help in suggesting appropriate project for you.

I'm studying at Sahrdaya College Of Engineering and Technology, under the University of Calicut (www.sahrdaya.ac.in).
According to our syllabus, we have a semester wise project scheme in our college from the 3rd semester of our 8 sem (4 year) course.
The projects that I have done through the dates are:
3rd sem: water analysis (to check the purity and quality of water)
4th sem: extraction of the enzyme papain from different parts of the plant and charecterization.
5th sem: isolation of oil degrading bacteria from oil contaminated sites.
6th sem: Dye sensitized solar cell (mini project; a novel way of electricity production from the fruit and vegetable wastes utilizing anthocyanin and light.

we have a combined 1st and 2nd semester scheme where it is known as only 1st year.

internships: after our 6th sem I have received an internship from Mims research institute, calicut on the topics 'Animal cell culture techniques'.

Hey Deepak,

You have had quite a diverse exposure. From now on my suggestion would be to focus on a particular domain and pursue your career on those lines (atleast to start-with). There is an adequate exposure to environmental Biotechnology in your career. You can pursue your final year project in this domain (if only you have an interest). You can use Bioinformatics to achieve results in small duration. For that you can compare the bacterial environment of a polluted area with that of a control region. I'm sure there must be some database having the publicly available 16S sequences for such environments. If such datasets are available, then pursuing a project for deciphering the microbiome of polluted envrionment(s) would be very easy. Hope it helps.

Best wishes (and apologies for the delayed response, had lost track of your query).
