Sushmitha, what kind of project you want to do, I mean mini project for personal interest or academic project? As you are in 4th sem its high time to clear your concepts and gain enough practical knowledge as if you for personal project, rarely your university will support you. You can go for review articles and make your own publications. Hope this is going to help you.

Sushmitha, review articles mean to do research in the field of your interest without any lab work, just Like inventors of DNA did and led them to Nobel Prize. Watson & Crick analyzed all the papers published till then over DNA. They used Rosalind's X-Ray of DNA, Chargoff's rule, protein configuration models and all. With their hard work and reviews they formulated the DNA structure, the basis of life. In the same way you can choose any topic and search for research papers on that topic. At university level 100-150 papers would be sufficient on that topic and at the end, you are supposed to write your own paper 10-15 pages (summarize all 150 papers in just 15 pages) and at the end give your suggestion and results in about 4-5 pages. It would be best thing that you can do in your free time without any lab work. Hope it gonna help you. :-)
