genes - priyansha sinha - 10-01-2016

Hello,

I am a BTech biotech studentĀ  and while I was studying some gene prediction methods I came up with a question in my mind that how researchers are able to find the required gene segment from whole genome set of an organism? From where do they get to know about the location of gene segment in the genome set which is responsible for the improper functioning of some or other things(experimental methods).DNA consist of extremely long series of base pairs and how it is possible to identify ,which sequence is responsible for which protein, disease or some other functions? kindly help me in this topic.

Thank you
