Respect Sunil Nagpal sir ,
I have read many answers on Quora.com and on biotechnology forums but still not satisfied.
To be very specific, i am currently doing my 12 boards preparations and i want to do b.tech in biotechnology. My way of thinking is that since i am a pure biology student I thought of doing b.tech in biotechnology from VIT vellore
And after doing b.tech I would apply for gate biotechnology to get an good iit to complete my m.tech .
Is i am thinking correctly?? And what type of problems faced by pure biology student in mathematics during gate ??

Can i get a better and good job after completing my m.tech ??
Plz answer my query so i can start my carrier with better beginning.

Hi Prateek,

Your way of thinking is completely apt. I will rather be adding a few more options for you to consider in this response.

1. While pursuing BTech, one should focus on obtaining internships abroad. There are innumerable foreign universities offering internship opportunities to Indian students on Scholarship basis, but sadly most of students (I was also in the herd) never look beyond going for paid internships. Following is the link to my article on a good list of such opportunities:
http://www.biotechnologyforums.com/thread-2282.html

2. While one applies for GATE, his/her only aim is to get into IITs. But the fact is , International colleges/ Universities like National University of Singapore (World Rank 7 for its Computational Biology Department) also considers GATE score and admits students to PhD program right after BTech.
Other universities being: HKTU, NTU, DAAD group.

3. Other options, apart from GATE, for getting into a top tier college in India: DBT JRF, CSIR UGC NET, ICMR JRF, IIIT entrance.

4. About Maths:
No it won't be a big deal either in BTech or in GATE. Yes there will be some questions pertaining to Maths in GATE, but most of those will be well taught in BTech.

5. The four years of your BTech are really going to have a long term impact on your career. Ensure that you stay academically as well as co-curriculary active. Participate in Tech fests, work on independent projects, don't waste your long holidays (look for internships in India and abroad, no matter which year you are in).

There is nothing to worry about, just move ahead and progress! There is nothing in this world which cannot be cracked, all it needs is an intent to do so.

Feel free to revert back with any other query you might have. But do search the forum for your topic of interest. There is high probability that some one might have asked the same question before.

Best wishes

Sunil
Very very thank you sir .
For providing me the correct information .

Guys, what do you think of that? And what type of problems faced by pure biology students ordering coursework on the net? Thanks a lot
